How we work
Editorial and sourcing standards
Effective August 28, 2026
Published is not the same as verified
A public URL may exist while its editorial review is still in progress. StopOver marks that distinction on the page. Content with unresolved review items, missing provenance, or unverified accommodation recommendations is excluded from search indexing and the XML sitemap until it passes the readiness gate.
Bylines and responsibility
“Stopover editorial team” is an organizational byline used where the current content record does not identify an individual author. It does not mean that a destination was visited or field-verified. Future field reports and specialist reviews should identify the person responsible and describe how the information was gathered.
Sources and verification
- Time-sensitive entry, transport, health, safety, protected-area, and legal details should link to the responsible official authority.
- Local recommendations should identify whether they come from field research, a named local reviewer, desk research, or another disclosed method.
- Specific prices, timetables, opening hours, access rules, and operator details require a dated check.
- Private AI conversations, unattributed summaries, and promotional copy are not acceptable evidence.
Readiness gate
A page becomes search-index eligible only when it has:
- a clear traveler task and an appropriate place in the site structure;
- no unresolved critical claims or placeholder material;
- a responsible author or reviewer and an honest research method;
- traceable sources plus a date for time-sensitive checks; and
- a compliance and commercial-disclosure review where applicable.
Accommodation and commercial links
Named accommodation should not be presented as an endorsement until its identity, location, current operation, relevance to the traveler task, and any commercial relationship have been reviewed. Travel-search and partner links may generate a commission; payment does not determine the editorial conclusion. Unverified accommodation sections are withheld from readers.
Automation and AI assistance
Tools may assist with planning, drafting, formatting, or detecting review items. They do not replace source verification, local knowledge, or accountable editorial approval. Automated generation alone never makes a page eligible for indexing.
